Job Description:

We are Memphis Auto Auction, a leader in the automotive auction industry and a winner of the Auction of the Year award. We’re growing, and due to an increased business needs, we are now seeking an Automotive Service Writer who has an eye for detail and is knowledgeable about cars.

Our auction is a division of United Recovery and Remarketing, a 45-year old Memphis based company with nearly 500 employees, and we are now interviewing for an immediate opening in our facility in the Memphis airport area. This position is a full-time, daytime shift, with a family-friendly Monday-Friday schedule.

In this position, you will:

  • Initiate automotive services and repairs based on description of symptoms - clarify description of problem; conduct inspection; test drive; examine vehicle maintenance records and service schedules.
  • Prepare repair orders (RO) by describing symptoms, problems and causes discovered and enter RO into database
  • Develop estimates by calculating all costs involved
  • Verify warranties and service contract coverage by examining records
  • Maintain client rapport by explaining estimates and answering any questions, and
  • Maintain automotive records.

Experience and Skills:

Required experience

Your qualifications should include a high school diploma, or the equivalent, a love of cars and solid data entry skills. You should be able to type 40+ wpm with minimal errors, have a strong attention to detail, and have excellent communication skills.

You should also be a positive team member and be willing to help assist other staff members when needed. A basic knowledge of automotive parts is strongly preferred, as you will be ordering parts for company and client vehicles.
